Try to write a composition from the above phrases, idioms and expressions. The
following text shows you how to make it:
I don’t want to tell a lie, but every now and then I think a great deal about what is
wrong and what is right in one’s life. So far I’m very glad to see with my own eyes that
nearly everybody wants to be good, but what a pity, from thinking about it to doing it is a
long way. One can also see, however, that a great many people haven’t the faintest idea
what is wrong or what is right. They simply do what they must do, or they say the first thing
they think of. Often they don’t think at all! But people of this sort don’t worry themselves.
Maybe they are quite right. On the other hand there are people who are very fond of doing
things well and they enjoy their work. As for me I want to be this kind of person, because
I always have a very good time when I do my work. From memory I can’t tell you what I
did or how I did things, but my slogan/motto on duty always was: help yourself and do your
work on the spot and in time. I’m glad to tell you that for the time be ing I like my work
very much and I try to do it well.
